Generation of hepatic spheroids for further use in liver tissue engineering

Utrecht University succeeded in generating hepatic spheroids from intrahepatic cholangiocyte organoids together with supporting cells in microwell plates provided by our partner Kugelmeiers Ltd. These spheroids are the building blocks needed for further use in liver tissue engineering. Tissue engineering will be performed through bioprinting which allows us to combine spheroids with biomaterials to fabricate natural tissue characteristics.
